athlete celebrates win

The American public is in awe of winning. The philosophy of winning spans our culture. Winning is a culture, an attitude, a frame of mind and an unwavering aspiration. It is healthy if there is no harm done.

The benefits to a program of a winning culture are clear:

- Higher levels of fundraising

- Attracting better qualified student athletes

- Enhancing the profile of a school

There is often a price paid - meaning young people may be used rather than served. We must never forget that education should rest at the core of any program. Any deviation from this stance must be challenged. What needs to be challenged?
